The New Jersey Advocacy Network to End Homelessness held its third annual Congressional Reception in Washington DC on July 28. More than 350 NJ residents and advocates boarded busses and made their voices heard in the magnificent Russell Senate Office Building Caucus Room. Legislators and aides did drop by and speak, as hoped for. Formerly homeless people and ardent advocates also weighed in. We'll bring you a sampling of how it went. Last year, the Advocacy Network took a Life-Net Radio airslot to announce its first "report card" on NJ's US Senators' and Representatives' votes on homelessness and affordable housing, to which some legislators actually did respond, by asking, "How can I improve my grade?"
